(Courtesy of Camp Ashreinu) Is it true? Is there a girls camp opening up in Bergen County?? The answer is yes!! Camp Ashreinu, for girls entering grades one through five, is opening its doors for summer 2025. Located in Maayanot on a quiet cul-de-sac right off of Queen Anne Road, Camp Ashreinu is conveniently located in the heart of Teaneck, right off of Route 4 and lots of stores. Camp Ashreinu is dedicated to creating the warmth, energy, and ruach that make summer unforgettable. Camp Ashreinu will be opening as a ”sister camp” to the very popular Camp Acheinu for boys. “This has been in the works for a long time,” said Rookie Gross, director of Camp Acheinu and now Camp Ashreinu. Ever since Camp Acheinu moved to Bergen County from Passaic in 2019, the camp has seen tremendous growth, b”H. Over the course of the last two years, parents have expressed interest in a girls camp run with the same warm, nurturing, and Torah-centered environment as the boys camp.
Gross has partnered with Rachel Burg, who will be serving as the head counselor. Burg, a resident of Bergenfield and long standing, respected member of the community, has been involved in formal and informal Jewish education for close to three decades in schools, camps, as well as in outreach positions. Burg taught first grade at RYNJ for 16 years, served as head counselor and camp mother at Camp Dina, and has been involved in NCSY, Aish HaTorah, the OU and Project Inspire. Burg is a true model who exemplifies the values Camp Ashreinu is proud to represent. With a vision for an exceptional girls day camp where girls can thrive spiritually and physically, Burg is looking forward to bringing this dream to life.
“Our goal is to create a vibrant environment where each camper can shine—whether through arts, drama, sports, performances, nature or simply the joy of summer fun,” said Burg. With a thoughtful balance of individual, group and bunk activities, Camp Ashreinu will focus on each girl’s unique strengths, inspiring her to grow, build confidence and thrive. There, every camper is truly a “Happy Camper,” embraced by an uplifting community and endless opportunities to explore, create and connect. Camp Ashreinu will offer bussing from Fairlawn, Teaneck, Bergenfield and parts of Manhattan. With its affordable pricing and limited spots for its inaugural year, they are already filling up and expect to close out soon. Campers have already registered from Bergenfield, Teaneck, Fairlawn, Passaic, Upper West Side and Riverdale.
