Camp Dora Golding @98 Is Younger Than Ever

It’s so great to be back at Camp Dora Golding! Opening day couldn’t have been smoother. On the second day of camp, staff was already rolling out the first surprise of the season. Camp Director Alex drove his slingshot through camp, with a bunch of gators following him. And who was that in the passenger seat holding a megaphone? Could that be Nissim Black? Indeed it was. Nissim himself invited everyone to join him for a surprise concert in the theater. The concert was incredible. The theater pulsated with music and dancing, as Nissim brought everyone to new heights.

Meanwhile the Malchus Supreme travel program kicked off with a bang! After an opening night midnight swim and poolside barbecue, campers awoke early the next morning and hit the road for Connecticut and Boston for a three day trip that included Adventure Park ropes course, a game at Fenway Park, a day at Six Flags New England, and a visit to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. After one final surprise stop at the Thrillz High Flying Adventure park, they arrived back in camp on Friday.

The expanded Chevra has a second beis medrash built this winter to accommodate their growing numbers.

And up in the Ya’alozu wilderness program, within 24 hours after arriving, campers had four fire pits cleared and burning! They already hiked Mt. Tamany and rock climbed up Breakneck Ridge. The veteran Ya’alozu campers built a double decker log cabin with nothing but rope and trees, on the first day of camp!

Whew! What a start, and it’s only getting better!
