I’m back again, it’s Daniel Goldstein reporting from Camp Dora Golding. I can’t believe it’s only been about two weeks since we were last in touch and so much has happened. It’s hard to fit everything into a few short paragraphs, so perhaps I’ll just give you a sneak peak of the letter I wrote home this week.
Dear World’s Greatest Parents (yes, I mean it),
It’s been quite the two weeks at CDG! I’ll start from the very beginning, the very best place to start.
The CDG Olympic Games was a true highlight of camp this year. It featured intense ‘track and field’ races, sporting competitions, and an apache race around the entire camp with an awesome segment on the new CDG Speedway. It was a wild two-days, and Team Red, my team, won the Games so it was definitely smiles all around!
Last Thursday was super sad, we had to say goodbye to all the trip one boys. It’s going to be another year before I see some of my new friends again (so how about going to Florida after camp?). But before we knew it, trip two boys were headed our way… there is a new sense of excitement in the air and magic powder floating about (OK, maybe that was a slight exaggeration).
Last Tuesday we woke up to a glorious day, with the sun shining, birds singing, and the sounds of laughter coming from all the bunkhouses (hasn’t my creative writing improved over the summer?). Activities were in full swing with our unbelievable sports program, go-karting on the new CDG Speedway, swimming in our luxurious swimming pool, boating in the gleaming lake, and flying on the super long, super fast zipline – all happening on CDG’s amazingly outfitted campsite.
Mom and Dad, you know how I’ve always wanted to be a fireman? Well, now I know that I definitely have a knack for jumping from great heights. On Thursday, there was a surprise waiting for us after breakfast: the absolutely mind-blowing Djphantom Jump. We jumped from this super high platform and landed safely on a life-saving bed. Don’t worry, it was all 100% safe and 100% crazy fun! Thursday’s supper was “Restaurant Night” featuring everyone’s favorite meal – we were able to order whatever dish we liked from Chef Yo’s menu. Which got me thinking, I think we should start “Restaurant Night” at home…
Oh and before I sign off, Thursday’s night activity was insane – an Illusionist Show by the one and only, world-famous, illusionist to the stars, Elliot Zimet. He was unbelievable, with pumping illusions and mind-boggling magic. I’m still in disbelief! Perhaps I’ll start trying his tricks at home, maybe I don’t want to be a fireman after all…
So it’s time to run, I hope you’re not missing me too much.
Love you both,
Daniel
