As we learn more about the developments of Operation Protective Edge and the immediate growing crisis in Israel, we are fully committed to support our family in Israel during this time of urgent need.
Last week in camp, every camper, counselor, and staff member took a break from their regular activity schedule to join together for an incredibly moving assembly. Our camp director, Rabbi Ari Katz, addressed the entire camp regarding the connection that we all have with Eretz Yisrael and that we all stand united during these hard times. Following that, our camp rabbi, Rabbi Donald Bixon, delivered divrei chizuk to our campers. Our rosh kollel, Rav Meir Goldwicht, then led our camp in the recitation of two chapters of tehillim. Together as one, boys and girls campuses ended the program singing Acheinu and Vehi Sh’Amda.
Camp Mesorah is in partnership with Shaalei Torah, a not-for-profit organization in Israel that establishes and sustains new young communities in the peripheral areas of Israel. We will be collecting tzedakah which will be used towards purchasing packages for our soldiers on the borders in Gaza. We would like our campers to feel involved so they will be writing letters and sending food packages to the soldiers and we will ask those that want to donate a dollar from their canteen account for this purpose.
