The Mustang division in PAL, comprised primarily of 8-9 year olds, was won this year by the Cardinals, managed by Dr. Brian Kardon, Rabbi Duvie Weiss and Rabbi Alex Mondrow. The Cardinals were the #1 seed going into the playoffs with a 7-3 record. Their dominant pitching led by Meir Weiss and Elvis de Leon and timely hitting had led them to the top spot in the division.
Of their regular season losses, two out of three came at the hands of their opponent in the championship game, the Mets. The Mets, the #2 seed, finished 6-1 this year with their only loss coming to the Cardinals in the second game of a doubleheader. The Mets were led by the pitching of Yair Koenigsberg and Ezra Landa along with the clutch hitting of Yair Koenigsberg, Doni Wolk and Ezra Landa. In the championship game, the Cardinals quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a three-run HR from Elvis de Leon. They tacked on another run on a solo shot from de Leon for a seemingly insurmountable 4-0 lead. The Mets were shut down, first by Meir Weiss and then by de Leon to win the championship game 4-0. While the Mets were disappointed, the players all had a good time playing together and were happy to have made it to the finals. The players have already started off-season workouts and are gearing up for next year
