CareOne at Teaneck Holds Candle-Lighting Ceremony

Last Thursday, CareOne at Teaneck held a candle-lighting ceremony in the chapel to commemorate the 11 victims of the Pittsburgh Tree of Life killings. The service was attended by nearly 100 employees, residents and family members, and was led by facility Chaplain Rabbi Mordechai Feuerstein. Rabbi Feuerstein said a dvar Torah that compared the mission of Abraham’s covenant to the mission of CareOne of caring for humanity, relieving suffering and assisting those in need.

After his remarks, 12 employees were called up by CareOne at Teaneck’s administrator Jeanne Monnecka to light 12 candles. Before lighting the candles, each employee read a brief paragraph about the lives of the individual they were lighting the candle for. The 12th candle was dedicated to other victims of violence against houses of worship in the U.S. over the past few years. After the candle lighting, Rabbi Feuerstein read the kel maleh rachamim both in English and Hebrew, and the program concluded with light refreshments.
