The Congregation Bnai Yeshurun Adult Education Committee welcomes Rabbi Professor Alan Brill on Sunday, March 14, at 8:15 p.m. on Zoom. Professor Brill’s topic is “Rabbi on the Ganges: A Jewish Hindu Encounter.” He will discuss his fascinating work by this title, which was inspired by his sabbatical year in India, and reflect on his firsthand encounters with Hindus. His book is the first work to engage the new terrain of Hindu-Jewish religious encounters.
Rabbi Prof. Alan Brill is the Cooperman/Ross Endowed Chair for Jewish-Christian Studies at Seton Hall University, where he teaches Jewish studies in the department of religion and the Jewish-Christian studies graduate program. Professor Brill was a Fulbright Senior Scholar Awardee for research and teaching at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh in India. This research produced his recent volume, “Rabbi on the Ganges: A Jewish Hindu Encounter” (Lexington Books, 2019).
Everyone is invited to attend. Zoom access: https://zoom.us/j/96319243357, Passcode: cby
