This past Sunday Congregation Bnai Yeshurun (CBY) kicked off a new middle school initiative for young women with an exciting “Chopped” style cooking competition led by renowned cookbook author, Naomi Nachman.
More than 50 participants gathered ready to prove they had what it takes to produce delicious food under pressure. The participants were divided into teams and given 45 minutes to prepare Chanukah themed dishes using common pantry ingredients.
The guest judges included CBY’s own Rabbi Elliot Schrier as well as Devora Naftali and Miriam Rosenberg, owners of Café DeMi.
The “chefs” were also cheered on by the bnot Sherut Leumi from Ben Porat Yosef, The Moriah School, Yavneh Academy and Yeshivat Noam who came to watch, taste and provide the amazing playlist of Israeli music. The amazing evening concluded with the winning team declared by the judges, though everyone went home with a smile and a full stomach!
Be on the lookout for more middle school programming at CBY soon!
