The Congregation Bnai Yeshurun Adult Education Committee will welcome Rabbi Dr. David Shabtai this Sunday, February 21, at 8:15 p.m., on Zoom. Dr. Shabtai will discuss “Hiding in Plain Sight: The Story Behind Megillat Esther.” A close reading of Megillat Esther reveals a complicated tapestry of political drama, palace romance and personal ambition. Dr. Shabtai will discuss Megillat Esther as a foundational text of emunah with a clear message to the Jews in exile, as relevant in ancient Persia as it is today.

Rabbi David Shabtai, MD is the rabbi of the Sephardic Kehillah of Boca Raton Synagogue. He teaches Judaics and science at local high schools and writes about medical halacha and Jewish bioethics. He has semicha from RIETS and an MD from NYU.
