Teaneck – Congressman Scott Garrett of New Jersey’s 5th District joined the fun as Cedar Market celebrated its first anniversary with a fun-filled sizzling Labor Day party packed with inflatable fun, from slide to bounce to human hamster ball and wipe-out. It was super goofy and super fun, “It’s Labor Day, so it just made sense to give back to the community that has given us such outstanding support,” said Yossi Hollander co-owner of Teaneck’s glatt ‘super’ market.
Clowns, caricatures and giveaways were just part of the day’s festivities. Hollander has brought variety, quality, and a strong customer-centric focus to Teaneck. Closed to traffic, this free carnival turned the parking lot into a giant customer thank you. Complete with money blowing booth and chances to chase and catch $5 or $75 off coupons, it was exciting for young and old in spite of the intense heat.
As passionate about customer service as he is about food, Hollander has carefully followed the one-stop shop model, “We seek to improve ourselves every day.”
One year later and still growing, they are cultivating a friendly staff, equipped to accept special orders from sushi, to fresh-baked-on-premises challah and deserts to the extensive selection of Cedar Market meats. Providing a wide selection and outstanding service is certainly paying off for this startup grocery; every day brings them closer to realizing the dream of becoming a “destination” and the convenient kosher option for the community.

Hollander says Congressman Garrett’s visit to the community was just the beginning of many out of the box marketing ideas customers can expect. New and coming very soon is a self-serve salad bar, complete with checked lettuce. Hollander promises an assorted selection of the freshest and most convenient salad bar in town and notes that his is the only market under RCBC supervision.
Cedar may bring unusual new ideas to the kosher shopping experience but Hollander keeps his focus as he happily remembers he wants to invite the community to connect via Facebook and Twitter. As he encourages this open dialogue what he really seems to be saying is “I’m listening.”
