Celebrating שבוע העברית At Yeshivat He’Atid

This week, Yeshivat He’Atid celebrated שבוע העברית (Hebrew Language Week), honoring the revival of Hebrew as Israel’s spoken language. Students explored the legacy of Eliezer Ben Yehuda, the visionary who brought Hebrew back to life, and learned about the many words he coined to enrich the language.

Students in grades first through fifth took part in מרוץ לעברית (Merutz LaIvrit), a fun, competitive race to the Hebrew language.  Each day, they faced unique challenges such as organizing classroom items in Aleph-Bet order, forming human Aleph-Bet letters, and even inventing new animals by combining two existing ones and naming them in Hebrew. Middle schoolers enjoyed an exciting escape room challenge to “save the safa ivrit” (the Hebrew language), along with a musical orchestra game to further engage with Hebrew.

The week culminated in a vibrant fair featuring interactive booths where students could play Hebrew-language games like bingo, dominoes, shoots and ladders, Boggle, memory games and word searches. It was a meaningful way to celebrate the beauty and power of the Hebrew language.
