A lavish buffet will begin at 5:30 p.m. and a celebratory dinner and program will follow at 6:45 p.m.. Rabbi Chaim and Sara M. Brafman, who will receive the Pillars of Tomorrow award on behalf of Rabbi Moshe and Rebbetzin Perel Herson, ob”m; Robert Lefkowitz (of Pondview Estates), who is slated to get the Pillar of Kindness award; and Bruce Buccolo (of United Leasing Group), who’s to receive the Ambassador of Light award, will serve as distinguished guests of honor. Prestigious entertainment will also highlight the milestone event.
Thirty-seven years ago, a small nucleus of pioneers engineered Chabad’s communal activities around a living room table. Over time they have grown into a multi-faceted organization with eight community centers spread throughout the region. “Celebrating 37 of Going Beyond,” the dinner’s theme, reflects the Chabad Center’s mission from day one: being there for every human being, regardless of affiliation or background – or the ‘sweat’ required!
“The achievements we have been blessed with are a direct result of the selfless efforts of outstanding individuals who have made the growth of our educational, charitable and social programs an absolute priority in their lives. We also know that the maximization of past accomplishments is only realized when we regularly take them to a higher level, as the verse says: ‘From strength to strength.’ We pray that the energy and message of our 37th anniversary dinner will enhance the growth and vibrancy of our community programs to levels yet unseen. A special focus will be placed on the selfless and incredible lives of my revered parents, Rabbi Moshe and Rebbetzin Pearl Herson. They were the true founders and engines of our growing institutions,” explained Rabbi Asher Herson, regional director of the Chabad Center.
The Chabad Center of Northwest New Jersey serves the greater area with state-of-the-art facilities and a broad array of programs including a Jewish Community Center, Early Learning Center, Adult Education Institute, Youth Center, a mikvah and an energetic synagogue (which hosts services every morning and evening, 365 days a year – the only institution offering three daily services in all of Morris, Sussex and Warren Counties). Eight additional community centers have also been established under the Chabad Center’s auspices, in different sections of Northwest New Jersey, to better serve local constituencies. The Chabad Center also provides chaplaincy services and conducts various programs in conjunction with local hospitals, police departments, school districts and municipalities.
