Chabad of Montclair Presents ‘A History of the Jews and the Mob’

Chabad of Montclair will host Myron Sugerman on Thursday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. as he discusses “The History of the Jews and the Mob” at the Montclair Women’s Club, located at 82 Union Street, Montclair.

Montclair resident Myron Sugerman will dazzle with the story of the mob’s impact on the American Nazi Party in the 1930s and the mob’s role in supplying money and weapons to the underground armies during Israel’s fight for independence.

Sugerman was born in Newark during the mob’s glory days; his father Barney “Sugie” Sugerman was good friends and business partners with the “A List” of Jewish, Italian and Irish leaders in the mob, including Meyer Lansky, Abner “Longie” Zwillman, Joe “Doc” Stacher, Gerard “Jerry” Catena, Richie “The Boot” Boiardo, Al Miniaci, Frank Brehenny and many others.

All are invited to hear the story from the last Jewish gangster.

Sugerman is the co-author, with award-winning writer Michael Levin, of a book about his life entitled, “The Last Jewish Gangster, from Meyer to Myron,” which is scheduled to be released this summer.

Suggested donation is $10 per person. Light refreshments will be served.

Please RSVP to [email protected] or via Eventbrite.
