Chabad of West Orange to Host Inclusion Shabbat

All are invited to join Chabad of West Orange on Friday night, February 5, for Shabbat Shalem, A Shabbat of Inclusion and Awareness, during Jewish Disabilities Awareness and Inclusion Month. The special guest speaker will be Avi Golden, who will speak on the topic of aphasia. Leslie Starr will give a dvar Torah on the weekly parsha.

Avi Golden suffered a stroke several years ago and as a result now has aphasia. Before that, he was a paramedic in North Shore-LIJ EMS and NY Presbyterian EMS in NYC, and he was planning to go to medical school. He is slowly but surely getting his speech back; however, in the aftermath of this incident, he has become deeply involved in training people, especially first responders, about aphasia.

Leslie is a lifetime resident of West Orange and longtime member of Chabad of West Orange.

The evening will begin with candlelighting at 4:45 p.m., followed by evening services and dinner. Cost is $30 per adult and $15 per child; for Chabad of WO members, $25 per adult and $12 per child. Reservations are requested by February 2. RSVP at www.chabadwestorange.com/fnd.
