Chabad Women’s Dinner to Feature Singer Chava Shapiro

Chabad of West Orange invites all women to attend its Annual Dinner, which will be held on Sunday evening, December 4, at Chabad, 401 Pleasant Valley Way, West Orange.

Chava Shapiro, a classically trained singer, will perform, accompanied by local talent, pianist Fran Testa.

“This is a wonderful event that we look forward to each year,” said Altie Kasowitz, co-director of Chabad of West Orange. “We are excited to be welcoming Chava Shapiro, a very talented and captivating singer who will inspire us with her voice and her personal story.”

Chava Shapiro (nee Zviklin) grew up in a suburb of Philadelphia. Classically trained since the age of 14, as a teen Chava was accepted to several selective choirs and performed under world-renowned conductors throughout the U.S. and Europe, including performances at prestigious venues such as Smetana Hall in Prague, Czech Republic and Carnegie Hall in New York City. As a recipient of the Loeb Performing Arts Scholarship in 2006, she also received the honor of a solo performance at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia.

Chava now sings exclusively for women audiences across the United States, performing an eclectic repertoire of music, including pieces in English, Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino, Russian, French and Italian. Chava currently lives with her husband Michoel and their three sons in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

The event is sponsored by Regal Bank. Couvert is $36. Sponsorships are welcome at $180, $360 and $500.
