Chai4ever Brings Sukkot Joy to Suffering Families

“It was so uplifting to spend the day as a family,” exclaimed Deena P. “The happiness you brought us is the best medicine!” Families with a seriously or chronically ill parent were treated to an incomparable Chol Hamoed experience by Chai4ever’s devoted staff and volunteers. “When you think about the difficult times these families have, dealing with cancer, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, and their assorted treatments, you begin to understand how desperately they need a break,” explains Samuel Zaks, Executive Vice President and Founder of Chai4ever. “Our Chol Hamoed program is a vital part of the services we provide—it gives patients and their families a much-needed opportunity to spend quality time together and form positive memories of family fun despite the challenges of illness.”

This year’s itinerary was a double adventure. Spirits soared and the energy was explosive at Hainesport, New Jersey’s Stratosphere Trampoline Park where almost one thousand parents, children and their counselors enjoyed trampolines, bouncing dodgeball, laser maze, rock climbing and a foam pit. Chai4ever’s dedicated volunteers put up a huge Sukkah where the hungry guests enjoyed a catered hot lunch buffet. “One of the hallmarks of Chai4ever is their attention to detail,” enthused Sarah L., a Parkinson’s sufferer and mom of four from Brooklyn. “Whenever I am invited to attend one of their events, I know all I have to do is show up. Chai4ever takes care of food, medical necessities, arranges volunteers to make sure my kids have fun safely and everything else I need!”

In the terrifying and uncertain world of parental illness, families can always rely on Chai4ever’s unwavering support. Whatever their needs—practical, emotional or financial—Chai4ever is always ready to meet them with tailored programs that lift spirits and offer hope and strength.
