“Working out is a part of who I am and a major part of my day. I want to help bring that feeling to others.”
This is the mantra of Englewood’s Chani Teigman, a fitness instructor for over 14 years. As a cycling instructor at Flywheel in Englewood and Scarsdale, and a teacher at The Gym in Englewood and Teaneck’s Club Fit, Teigman found her days filled with activities she enjoyed and people she loved. When Club Fit abruptly closed, Teigman missed more than just the exercise routine. Though she still teaches at The Gym, she missed the people who used to come to her Club Fit classes.
“We really became a family at those classes, working toward a fitness goal together,” she said.
Teigman decided the closing of Club Fit was time for her to start the next stage of her journey as a fitness instructor. She also realized that she had made a name for herself in the fitness world and as a personal trainer. Now Teigman has spent the last few months completely renovating her basement and transforming it into a brand new exercise studio.
Teigman wants customers to understand that this is not merely a class in someone’s basement. It is actually a fully functional boutique fitness studio. Featuring a private entrance, high-definition sound system, water and towel service and brand new equipment, Teigman’s classes provide all the experience of a gym, but in the comfort of a private environment.
“One of the benefits of this setup is the ability to cater to any request,” she said. “If anyone has a specific request for my classes, let me know. We can make it happen.”
Teigman teaches classes in barre, BOSU, high-intensity interval training (HIIT), abs and boot camp. She teaches all ages. She also offers private classes, partner training and classes in both daytime and nighttime. If someone wants a certain class at a specific time, “just reach out to me and we will put it together.”
Teigman wants to facilitate scheduling and communication for her classes and has an app for booking classes, payment and communication at her brand new website, www.24ctfitness.net. She also has an Instagram account @24ctfitness where people can follow her for updates and upcoming classes.
24 CT Fitness opened in June and Teigman is off to a great start. Spin classes at The Gym are still a part of the teaching that she loves, but the new studio “is the fulfillment of my lifelong dream—to inspire my clients in a more personalized setting.”
