Chanukah Miracles in the Sky at LifeTown

Recent drone sightings add intrigue to inspiring Chanukah event.

(Courtesy of Friendship Circle) Amid recent reports of unidentified drones spotted in New Jersey skies, Friendship Circle and Chabad at Short Hills utilized drone technology to create an extraordinary holiday event. More than 2,200 people joined the celebration of Chanukah that illuminated the skies at LifeTown in Livingston. The mesmerizing drone light show used 150 drones to depict stunning Chanukah-themed designs against the night sky.

The event, held on Wednesday, December 25, the first night of Chanukah, showcased the story of the holiday through innovative technology and creative artistry. The breathtaking show was produced by Lightyear Drone, and featured vibrant images of menorahs, dreidels, Judah the Maccabee and much more. Each design was choreographed to synchronize with music, creating a multisensory experience. This dazzling performance reflected the spirit of Chanukah—celebrating miracles, unity and resilience.

“It is so important to find creative ways to excite the children about their heritage,” said Rabbi Zalman Grossbaum, CEO of Friendship Circle and LifeTown.

Rabbi Mendel Solomon of Chabad at Short Hills expressed how the collaboration with the Friendship Circle brought a unique vibrancy to the Chanukah festivities. “This is a celebration of light and hope that goes beyond tradition. Especially this year, we wanted to create something to bring people together from all walks of life to celebrate Chanukah’s universal message.”
