ChanukahFest to Offer Many Events at Union Y

The YM-YWHA of Union, 501 Green Lane, Union, is putting the finishing touches on one of the season’s largest events, “ChanukahFest,” to be held this year on November 20. Known many years back as “The Jewish Fair & Expo,” the program has been reincarnated by popular demand. It will also coincide with the gala opening of the Kirschenbaum Israel Center. The newly constructed state-of-the-art double-size room will celebrate Israeli culture, history, film and media. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 1 p.m. The center will feature an array of over 30 events between end of November and end of April, hosted by community shlicha Danielle Perlmutter. Other happenings are as follows: Over 25 holiday vendors for shopping, a children’s art workshop pay-by-the-piece (11:30-1:30), screening of the film “Dough” at 12 noon and 2 p.m. Music by Hester Street Klezmer with a special musical performance by the JEC choir. Food is available to purchase. There is no admission fee and hours are 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. At press time there were still limited spaces available for vendors. For more information, please contact Jani Jonas at 908-289-8112. There will be additional parking in the adjacent lot on Green Lane.
