Chayal el Chayal is an organization committed to providing lone soldiers with comprehensive support, addressing their physical and spiritual needs, before, during and after their service. This initiative, conceived from a commitment to ensure no soldier spends Purim alone on the front lines, epitomizes the essence of camaraderie and unity.
The genesis of the project originates from the steadfast dedication of the organization’s founder, Mordy Botnick. On Purim of 2010, he found himself amidst a double shift stationed at a remote guard post in the Shomron. Resolved to transform this solitary Purim experience into a moment of connection and celebration, he pledged to never let another soldier face a lonely Purim on the front lines.
“Our mission is unequivocal: No soldier should feel isolated on Purim. The IDF Purim Project embodies a collective endeavor to extend our gratitude to those who selflessly sacrifice for our nation,” affirmed Botnick, CEO of Chayal el Chayal.
The IDF Purim Project stands as a testament to the potency of collective compassion. It mobilizes devoted volunteers to hand-pack mishloach manot, teams of volunteer drivers to deliver these packages and letters of support, and volunteers to provide Megillah readings, thereby disseminating the spirit of Purim to front-line soldiers.
Last year, the project successfully distributed almost 3,000 mishloach manot packages, bringing joy and fostering a sense of community among soldiers across Israel. With the ongoing mass deployment of soldiers on the front lines during Operation Swords of Iron, the IDF Purim Project endeavors to amplify its impact by reaching thousands more soldiers located in combat zones.
As the project gears up for its annual drive, its objective is to proliferate the festive spirit of Purim to as many soldiers as possible. Chayal el Chayal beckons communities to rally for funds and individuals to pen letters, uniting in support of this noble cause, thereby ensuring that every soldier basks in the joy of Purim despite the challenges they confront on the front lines.
