As is customary the week after Pesach, CYM made traditional challah with a twist—they added a key. This special challah is known as shlissel challah or key challah, and serves as a reminder that Hashem holds the keys to our livelihood. Although everyone must diligently do their part, this shows recognition that everything is ultimately a gift from Hashem. People ask Him to unlock His treasure box and bless them with healthy sustenance in a gracious way. This integral, life-lesson was experienced in a practical way. As children made their challah, they pushed in a key while shaping it. Some children even designed their challah to look like a key! What a meaningful experience with a lifelong lesson.
