On Wednesday, February 10, Yeshivat Noam hosted a special chesed fair organized by Areyvut, a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading the values of chesed (kindness), tzedakah (charity) and tikkun olam (social action). The Chesed Fair offered students, parents and the broader community the opportunity to meet with representatives from a variety of local and Israel-based organizations and learn how they can make an impact on their community, the Jewish people and the world at large.

The fair was also an opportunity for upcoming bar and bat mitzvah celebrants to learn how to facilitate meaningful bnai mitzvah projects and to ignite a passion for communal involvement.

“There are so many wonderful organizations in our community that people just don’t know about,” says Daniel Rothner, founder and director of Areyvut. “The Chesed Fair gives community members the ability to learn about volunteer opportunities that take place in their own backyard and affect the world at large.”

Fifteen organizations were showcased at the fair including American Friends of Leket, Amit, Sharsheret, Hebrew Free Burial Association, Jewish Family Service of Bergen and North Hudson, Chai Lifeline, CareOne and more.
