Children’s Clothing Drive In Our Community!

Teaneck – For the second year in a row, the Teaneck Children’s Clothing Drive is operating. Many people in the community struggle to make ends meet, and shopping for their children is often a hardship. By collecting gently used and new clothing within the community and inviting people to schedule private “shopping hours”, this drive helps many families dress their kids.

Last year the quality and the amount of clothing we collected was incredible.  We were able to help over 100 families from within and beyond our community, and the remaining clothing was sent to Israel through Yad Leah.  Many people came to shop for other families as well.

We are looking for both clothing and volunteers!  This year’s clothing drive will take place at RYNJ, 666 Kinderkamack Rd, River Edge.  Clothing drop off dates are Sunday, June 23 from 9:00am to 12:00pm & Monday, June 24 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.  For volunteer times and other inquiries please contact Dalia Stelzer and Chana Shields at [email protected].

When dropping off clothing, please adhere to the following guidelines:

We are looking for gently-used or new CHILDREN’S clothing, shoes, boots, coats and snowpants.  (for ages infant to 14 years)

Please do not bring clothing with rips, stains or holes

Please No personal-logo, bat/bar mitzvah, camp/school t-shirts or sweatshirts (even if they are in new condition).

Please No accessories like hats, tzitzit, gloves, socks, tights, headbands, girl’s bathing suits etc. (Baby’s blankets and buntings will be accepted).

This year we are asking everyone to please sort and label all dropped off bags by size and gender to save us time in sorting.  Folding and sorting the clothing onto the designated tables when you drop off, would be an even bigger help! Thanks in advance!!!

This year’s Greater Teaneck Children’s Clothing Drive will be dedicated in memory of Esther Semmelman z’l, upon the first yartzeit.  Esther’s unique love of children and sensitivity to their needs and concerns was clear to anyone that encountered her.  It is only fitting that the clothing drive for the children of our community be sponsored in her memory. May her Neshama have an aliyah in the zchut of the chessed we will be doing in her memory.

Thank you to Israel Weisel and RYNJ for lending us the facility and accommodating our hours. Contact [email protected] with any inquiries.
