Chile: The Ultimate Yeshiva Break Adventure

An avid travel enthusiast and adventurer, Passaic’s Benjy Bral of Epic Horizon Tours has visited many places all over the world. So this year, as families begin thinking about plans for their yeshiva break getaways, Bral has decided to offer something a little bit different. Instead of the usual vacation spots, Bral wants to take you with him on the adventure of a lifetime, to one of his favorite destinations in the world, Chile.

Bral always had a passion for creating vacations that are “off the beaten track,” and knew it was time to showcase something spectacular and more distinctive from the usual trips that many people have taken in the past. Considered to be one of the most beautiful and safest places in Latin America, Chile’s variety of stunning locales and landscapes, from deserts to vineyards, make it an easy choice for families who like to travel. “We were looking to do something more exciting for families who still want every detail taken care of for them, like food, minyanim and other logistics…and Chile is definitely not your standard vacation destination,” said Bral.

All the way on the other side of the equator, Chile boasts some of the most unique and adventurous activities for travelers. From the splendor of Chile’s famed Atacama desert, renowned as the best location for stargazing on the planet; to the Patagonia region where revelers can kayak along Arctic glaciers while watching penguins frolicking in their habitat; to hiking in Torres del Paine, each activity is more breathtaking than the next. Travelers on this extraordinary experience will have the opportunity to go sand-boarding down desert dunes, horseback riding along the Cejar Lagoon, and enjoy watching the El Tatio Geysers erupt at sunrise. Epic Horizon Tours has planned a truly unforgettable experience for this yeshiva break.

Known for some of the best wines in the world, Epic Horizon Tours groups will also embark on a kosher wine tour, visiting some of Chile’s best vineyards and enjoying sumptuous feasts with perfectly paired vintages. But for those travelers wishing something different than wines and vineyards, they have the option to spend a day at the beach and take in a surfing lesson at one of Chile’s pristine beaches.

Bral wants his visitors to experience some of the best of what Chile has to offer, letting them “see Chile from every angle.” Describing the itinerary as “pure, authentic exploration” minus any cliche tourist spots, Bral will bring the group to Chile’s capital of Santiago to explore this marvelous city and take in the rich and storied Jewish culture through the lens of the local community. The surprisingly large, vibrant Jewish community is anchored by the Aish HaTorah organization, and several Ashkenzai and Sephardic synagogues, along with plenty of Jewish sites and monuments that can be found throughout the city. While celebrating Shabbat with Santiago’s warm and welcoming Jewish community, visitors will get to experience the Jewish life, and members of the Jewish community will be on hand to show visitors all their favorite local haunts.

For those looking for a little extra adventure, you can extend your trip with a three-day excursion to the tip of Chile that’s close to the Arctic, and enjoy the Patagonia section visiting the world-famous penguins living their best life, and kayaking among the glaciers. The list of activities goes on, and each is more breathtaking than the next.

Although this trip will be jam packed with fun, adventures and world-class experiences that can’t be found anywhere else, there will be some relaxation time built in, to process all of the majesty that Chile has to offer. After all, this is still a vacation.

It’s the trip that nobody else is doing and Bral said, “It’s a chance to explore a new country while staying connected to your roots,” as well as a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow travelers who share the same spirit of adventure.

The trip will be completely catered and feature an exquisite and mouth-watering array of traditional Latin American cuisine as well as standard American fare, all under the kashrut of Kosher Chile. “You’ll taste the best of Chilean cuisine without any of the worries, from fresh local ingredients to delectable flavors.”

The seven day trip leaves January 20 and returns January 26. For those travelers wishing to add the extended days to the Patagonia region, the trip returns on January 29.
