New York rabbi, author and chef Hanoch Hecht, will be giving a live presentation on Thursday, February 11, at 7:30 p.m. to share stories, insights and some of his favorite recipes. Hecht was the first rabbi to appear on The Food Network’s “Chopped” (title: “Leap of Faith,” in which he competed with a priest, a nun-in-training and a pastor). He’s made latkes on Good Day New York and has taught kosher cooking at the Culinary Institute of America.
Hecht is the author of the new book “A Kabbalah of Food: Stories, Teachings and Recipes.” Receive a free copy when you register.
Hecht’s love of cooking developed when he was a smart-alec student, sent out of the classroom and into detention with the school’s cook, who shared with him the secrets of her preparations. Now, he cooks with his own seven children, especially in preparation for a holiday.
“Rabbi Hecht will entertain, educate and captivate you with his culinary creativity, talent, humor, huge smile and boundless energy!” said Altie Kasowitz, co-director of Chabad of West Orange, “and we are proud to be joining three sister Chabad Houses for this exciting project.”
Those wishing to attend may register with Altie Kasowitz at 973-818-2937 or [email protected], or Chana Solomon at 973-535-1800 or [email protected]. Once you register you will be given the Zoom login information.
The program is a joint project of Chabad of West Orange, Chabad at Short Hills, Chabad of Wayne and Chabad of Kendall, Florida.
