Chopstix will be holding its 13th annual holiday party on Monday, January 11, from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Teaneck. As in past years, the celebration will benefit the Tomorrows Children’s Fund at Hackensack University Hospital.
“When we came up with this concept, maybe 15 or 16 years ago, we knew we didn’t want this to be just another ordinary community holiday party. We wanted a party where we gave back to the community,” said Chopstix proprietor Elie Katz. “We were thrilled to be able to partner with Hackensack Hospital and Tomorrows Children.”
The Tomorrows Children’s Fund was founded by a group of committed parents to help their children and others like them with cancer and serious blood disorders. This year’s event will be in memory of Antonio Lucas, the father of a Chopstix employee who succumbed to cancer during this past year.
The event will feature magic, music, face painting, food and fun for the whole family. There is no charge to attend—just bring an unwrapped gift for the children at Tomorrows Children.
“This is truly a phenomenal event,” added Katz. “There is something for everyone.”
Added co-proprietor Uri Herzog, “This year’s event also celebrates the 20th anniversary of Chopstix. We are so thankful for all of our customers over the years and this party is a way for us to give something back to them as well. We will all celebrate together while supporting Tomorrows Children. It’s going to be a great evening.”
In addition to community members and Chopstix patrons, attendees at prior years’ parties have included doctors and other staff members from the hospital, as well as some of the children who benefit from Tomorrows Children.
In the past, thanks to customers and friends, over 600 toys were collected and distributed.
Chopstix would like to thank its generous sponsors—Chickies French Fry & Chicken Bar, Dougie’s BBQ of Teaneck, Poppy’s Bagels, Music by Binyomin Ginsberg (JewishMusician.com), Eli’s Auto, Butterflake Bakery, Councilman Mark Schwartz, Moose Lodge, Trophy King, Camp Mesorah, Mediterranean Shawarma & Hummus Bar, The Jewish Link of New Jersey, Magic Masters Entertainment and Glatt Express—each of whom “helps make the evening awesome and memorable,” Katz continued.
The Moose Lodge is located at 201 W. Englewood Avenue.
