The stage is set for an epic Yeshiva League championship showdown as the DRS Wildcats and the TABC Storm, both top-seeded powerhouses, prepare to battle for the title on Sunday, March 16, at 4 PM at YU.
This highly anticipated matchup features two of the most dominant teams in the league, each boasting star power, depth and a hunger for victory.
DRS Wildcats: Riding High on Momentum
The Wildcats came into the finals riding the momentum of a thrilling semifinal victory over MDY, capped off by a dramatic game-winning shot from Joe Aaron. Aaron, who has been clutch all season, will once again be a focal point for DRS as they aim to secure the championship. Alongside him, Tzvi Tsaidi has been a force to be reckoned with, providing leadership and playmaking ability that have helped propel DRS to the top. This team has defeated formidable opponents this year such as North Shore, MDY and Frisch.
TABC Storm: A Roster Full of Firepower
On the other side, the Storm entered the finals with a stacked lineup led by their dominant big man, Eyal Kinderlehrer. His presence in the paint will be a key factor in controlling the boards and challenging DRS’s interior defense. TABC’s offense is also bolstered by the mid-range mastery of Akiva Borgen, as well as the deadly shooting of Yonah Mandel and Dovid Saks, who can stretch the floor and punish defenses from beyond the arc. This is the first time TABC Varsity basketball has played in the finals. They have taken down strong opponents in Ramaz, MTA, MDY, Northshore, and Hillel.
The Matchup
Both teams have had outstanding seasons, proving why they earned the No. 1 seeds in their respective divisions. The Wildcats will look to control the tempo and rely on their balanced attack, while the Storm’s combination of size and sharpshooting makes them a dangerous opponent.
With both teams boasting elite talent and a will to win, this championship battle is shaping up to be a classic. Who will emerge victorious and claim the Yeshiva League crown? All eyes will be on Sunday’s 4 PM tip-off to find out.
