Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

For the second consecutive year, the CMEK grade 6 girls reached the Championship of the Bergen County League. Last year, they won it; this year a tough team from Fairlawn, led by a future D1 player, proved too tough.

Gabby Green (Moriah) was the team’s most versatile player. She was the playmaker and improved each game. Nikki Ratner (Yavneh) led the team in scoring down the stretch. Kiki Keiser (Noam) led the team in double doubles. Carly Sheinfeld (Noam) was the team’s best defensive player and became a potent offensive player as the season progressed. Rivke Piontnica (Noam) was a spark off the bench who made some key shots and passes all season. Miriam Schur (Noam) was a ferocious rebounder. Tamar Wiederkehr (YNJ) was an unselfish team player. Vanessa Amsinger (Edgewater) was a key all-around player. The team played without star point guard Dani Rothschild (Noam) who injured her foot the last week of the season. With her healthy, the team should challenge again next year.
