The film follows a group of Jerusalem teenagers who are victims of broken homes and shattered lives. Participating in Martef, a therapeutic program for at-risk teens, they interview surviving witnesses of the 1961 Eichmann trial, then create a play based on the survivors’ stories. The young actors and the aging survivors, connected by shared pain and loss, develop bonds of empathy and understanding. 50 Children: The Rescue Mission of Mr and Mrs Kraus In the spring of 1939, Gilbert and Eleanor Kraus sailed for Europe and into the heart of darkness. “50 Children: The Rescue Mission of Mr. and Mrs. Kraus” tells, for the first time, the incredible story of an American Jewish couple who, against all odds, brought the single largest group of children during the Holocaust out of Nazi Germany and into the United States. In doing so, they transformed themselves from an ordinary couple into extraordinary heroes.
