Come See West Englewood Ave. Turn Into Ben Yehuda!
This Sunday, April 3, the community is invited to a campaign kickoff and family fun day for Councilmembers Mark Schwartz and Mohammed Hameeduddin. The event will take place from 4–7 p.m. and all of West Englewood Avenue will be closed to traffic from 3–7 p.m., rendering a “Ben Yehuda Street feel.” West Englewood Ave. merchants will offer outdoor dining and specials. “I’ve been pushing for this ‘Ben Yehuda concept’ for the past year. I wanted West Englewood to be closed to traffic permanently, like Times Square,” said Schwartz, who is also JLNJ’s publisher.
Kids will enjoy a bounce house and fun snacks including cotton candy and popcorn, and older teens and adults will have the opportunity to meet and talk to Mark and Mohammed in a casual setting.
The event will take place in front of, inside and at the back of the Teaneck Moose Lodge at 201 West Englewood Ave. Community members are asked to park in the two municipal lots on either side of West Englewood or on Queen Anne Road. In lieu of any kind of fee, families are requested to bring cans or non-perishable food items for the Helping Hands Food Pantry, which is also located in the Plaza on West Englewood Ave.
