Upcoming Events at Lamdeinu: Yom HaShoah and Yom Ha’atzmaut

(Courtesy of Lamdeinu) In the weeks immediately following Pesach, Lamdeinu will offer two special events commemorating the history of the Jews in the past century.

On Thursday April 28, Lamdeinu will present Learning for Yom HaShoah. At 11 a.m. Rabbi Gedalyah Berger will speak about “Kevod Ha-Met in Extremis: Burial on Yom Tov?” At 12:30 p.m. Rabbi Daniel Fridman will discuss “The Varieties of Spiritual Resistance.” Both classes are open to men and women and will be available on Zoom.

On Thursday May 5, Lamdeinu will offer a special Yom HaAtzmaut celebration for women in honor of Israel’s 74th anniversary. Beginning at 9 a.m. there will be tefillah and Hallel chagigit. At 10:30 a.m. there will be a Shirei Eretz Yisrael sung and led by a professional artist. The Shirah will be followed by the presentation of two Israeli movies depicting a slice of life in modern-day Israel. A discussion led by Alisa Danon Kaplan will follow the film presentation. The celebration will be available on Zoom and is free and open to all women.

To sign up for or sponsor any of these events please contact Dean Rachel Friedman or Program Director Debbie Negari at [email protected]. To donate to Lamdeinu please visit lamdeinu.org/Donate. Look out also for a new Pre-Shavuot series with Rabbi Yitzchak Twersky on “Preparing for the Festival of Revelation” to begin in May. Details will follow shortly.
