Teaneck—Gil and Kari Chachkes of Teaneck won Glatt Express’ $10K Giveaway contest last Sunday. Store owner Tammy Secemski and son, Dani Secemski, drew the winning ticket from a box filled with thousands of tickets from customers who spent $100 or more at the store.
Loyal customers, the Chachkes family sent Gil to the store after being called by the Secemskis to claim his prize, pose for pictures and answer a few questions.
Chachkes was not sure what he would do with the funds but he noted that he has a child in both Yavneh and Lubavitch on the Palisades, so he and his wife would likely be splitting the gift between the two schools. He also indicated that he might want the gift to go another local charity. He also said, “I know I had a lot of tickets so I thought I had a better chance of winning.”
According to the contest’s rules, the $10K prize could only be used to pay tuition at a local school or donated to a charity of the winner’s choice. When asked by the JLBC about the aims and goals of the contest, Tammy Secemski noted that “Glatt Express is a community store and owned by residents of our local community…we see the contest as a way to give back to our community. We are proud and happy to be able to give back in this way.”
Glatt Express held a similar contest two years and to give away $18K and is looking to do giveaways like this in the near future.
