Bergenfield and Teaneck Libraries Reopen

After a little more than three months of being closed due to COVID-19, the Teaneck library is back in business. As the first step of a gradual re-opening of the library, residents of Teaneck can now reserve up to 10 books online or by phone to be picked up at the library. After receiving notice by phone or email that the items are ready to be picked up, patrons can drive to the library, call the office to notify the staff that they are outside for pickup, and then wait for the hardworking staff to place their book(s) on the contactless pickup table underneath the festival tent conveniently located next to the library entrance.

One of the many people taking advantage of the library being (partially) reopened is Aharon Isenberg, a resident of Teaneck and an avid reader. “I’ve been waiting for so long for the library to be reopened, and to read this book,” he said. The aforementioned book is “The Akhenaten Adventure,” the first book in the “Children of the Lamp” series by British author P.B. Kerr.

The Teaneck library is now open in a limited capacity for pickup, Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Patrons can choose which books they would like to reserve for pickup, or they can fill out the “Surprise Me” Doorside Pickup Form and have the library staff pick out books for them (a feature available to Teaneck cardholders only).

Many regular patrons of the Bergenfield library are also excited to be able to take out new books, since the library has now reopened after the long hiatus.

“My favorite types of books to read are mysteries, fantasy and adventure books,” said Adira Shor, a Bergenfield resident. Her current favorite series is the “Gallagher Girls Series” by Ally Carter, which is about a group of girls who attend a school for spies.

The library is offering contactless curbside pickup by appointment on Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the Anderson Avenue side of the building.
