Valley Chabad Celebrates Tu B’Shevat With Family Trees

(Courtesy of Valley Chabad) On Sunday, January 25, students from Valley Chabad Hebrew School celebrated Tu B’Shevat, the traditional new year for trees with a focus on family roots.

Children were tasked with collecting names of their grandparents and great-grandparents and learning their stories—the idea being that just as roots inform the tree’s growth, so too our ancestors set the foundation and give us proper guidance as we navigate our life.

Valley Chabad Hebrew School takes place weekly in two formats, both in person and virtual. Families choose what they prefer for their children’s learning.

Here, Edward and Flona Briskin of Woodcliff Lake, participants in the virtual track, proudly show their family-tree Tu B’Shevat project that they made in Hebrew School.

Valley Chabad’s Hebrew School is open to the entire Jewish community regardless of membership or affiliation. Children ages 5 through 12 will receive a robust and positive introduction to Jewish culture and tradition in a fun and hands-on format. To learn more or to register, contact the Hebrew School director, Mrs. Hindy Drizin, at [email protected] or call 201-476-0157.
