In an effort to be inclusive of observant Jewish residents, the Borough of Highland Park held its 9/11 20th anniversary event—a flag raising and reflection—on Friday morning, September 10. The event in the HP Community Center parking lot featured remarks by Mayor Gayle Brill Mittler; Councilwoman Elsie Foster; New Jersey Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak, New Jersey Assemblyman Sterley Stanley; HPPD Police Chief Rick Abrams, HPFD Firefighter Supervisor Norman Shamy; HP First Aid Squad Head Trustee and Former Captain Beccy Lauer; Office of Emergency Management Director Jim Polos; and Councilman Matthew Hale. It concluded with a moment of silence to remember all the lives lost on that tragic day.
