JKHA sixth through eighth grade students participated in a thrilling culmination of this year’s CVL (Chumash Vocabulary League) season with a championship match-up. For the first time, sixth grade students participated in this competition as well. Over the course of the year, students learned 450 foundational Chumash vocabulary words and took weekly quizzes to encourage review and display mastery of the material as part of the CVL competition. The championship match was a beautiful display of the knowledge that the students amassed. Each class was represented by the students who won the class competitions and the winning teams played each other for the championships in buzzer contests in front of their classmates. CVL has proven to generate excitement for vocabulary while giving students the necessary tools to study Tanach for the rest of their lives.
JKHA middle school students also participate in GVL (Gemara Vocabulary League) during the year to learn and strengthen key Gemara vocabulary, learning 140 words in total.
