Jordanna Schiff’s article “My Bittersweet Goodbye” in the February 3, 2022 issue of the Jewish Link was very moving. Ms. Schiff certainly experienced a challenging four years at McGill University. Unfortunately her overwhelming experiences are all too common for Jewish students all over the world—except of course in Israel. I deeply sympathize with the conflict she had with perversely biased professors and students.
However I was disappointed that Schiff, who can no longer be penalized by ignorant professors, is not actively protesting through the alumni and administration of McGill! She should be actively reporting the behavior of her professors, especially in the Islamic studies department. Shiff should be actively enlisting those Jewish/Zionist/Israeli students who were treated so viciously. I’m proud she was able to overcome obstacles she faced, but now she needs to become a leader to change the antisemitic environment at the university and even high school level.
