Cong. Ahavath Torah’s Rabbi Goldin Is Featured Speaker at Annual Rabbi Swift Memorial Lecture

Congregation Ahavath Torah and the Rabbi Isaac L. Swift Chair of Judaic Studies at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades invite the community to the annual Rabbi Isaac L. Swift Memorial Lecture on the 25th yahrzeit of Rabbi Swift. This year’s event will feature guest speaker Rabbi Shmuel Goldin, senior rabbi at Congregation Ahavath Torah, author and lecturer. The lecture will be held on Monday, June 5, beginning with mincha at 7:30 p.m. Maariv will follow.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Yerushalayim, Rabbi Goldin will speak on “Yerushalayim: City of Peace or City of Conflict: A Paradigm for the Jew’s Relationship to the Non-Jew.”

Since 1984, Rabbi Shmuel Goldin has served as spiritual leader of Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood, one of the largest, most active and prominent suburban Orthodox communities in the New York area. He is the founding director of and lecturer at The Eve Flechner Torah Institute at Ahavath Torah. Rabbi Goldin has lectured extensively throughout the world in a wide variety of synagogue and communal settings. He has coordinated almost 20 trips to Israel for his congregation and beyond, as well as Rally-in-Israel I and II, which brought close to 1,000 participants to Israel. Rabbi Goldin is the author of five popular volumes on the Torah: “Unlocking the Torah Text: Bereishit,” “Shmot,” Vayikra,” “Bamidbar” and “Devarim”—Gefen Publishing Company and OU Publishers. He is now working on a Haggadah that will be published in early 2018. Rabbi Goldin is also a past president of the Rabbinical Council of America and a past president of the Rabbinical Council of Bergen County.
