On January 7, Congregation Ahavath Torah sponsored the first annual Family Promise Bergen County homeless shelter dinner, organized by the Kanner family. The team cooked and served dinner to more than 130 people at the shelter in Hackensack.
Volunteers included Debbie Billig; Sheri and Nikki Friedman; Yvonne and Reuben Kuzniecky; Ezra Mahpour; Nancy Rose; Daniella Moadab; Emma, Samantha, Leslie and Harry Kanner; Gila and Jordan Comet; Shelli and Annabel Kermeir; Debra and Jerry Lewkowitz; Ammee Gardner; and Rabbi Daniel Goldberg
We would like to thank Butterflake Bakery and Kosher by the Case for their generosity.
Thank you to all those who sent in donations to help defray the cost of the dinner, to Rabbi Chaim Poupko for supporting this important community project and to Rabbi Daniel Goldberg for donating his time at the shelter.
Contact Leslie Kanner at [email protected] if you’re interested in volunteering and/or donating to the next Family Promise dinner.
