Rabbi Yitzchak Blau, rosh yeshiva at Yeshivat Orayta, will be speaking at Congregation Agudath Sholom in Stamford on Sunday evening, March 13 at 8 p.m. His topic will be “Literary Techniques in Aggadic Interpretation.”
“We are delighted that Rabbi Blau is making Stamford one of the places in which he will give a shiur on his current trip to the States,” said Michael Feldstein, who arranged the talk. “Rabbi Blau is a superb speaker, and he always draws a nice crowd when he visits our community.”
Rabbi Blau studied at Yeshivat Har Etzion and at Yeshiva University. He has a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Yeshiva University, a master’s in medieval Jewish history from Revel, and semicha from RIETS. He previously taught at the Yeshivah of Flatbush High School and at Yeshivat Hamivtar. In addition to his work at Yeshivat Orayta, Rabbi Blau also teaches at Midreshet Lindenbaum.
He is the author of “Fresh Fruit and Vintage Wine: The Ethics and Wisdom of the Aggada,” and has published more than 25 articles on various contemporary issues in Jewish thought and halacha. An associate editor of Tradition, he lives in Alon Shvut with his wife and four children.
