Congregation Anshe Chesed Celebrates 104 Years in Linden

On Wednesday, May 30, Modern Orthodox synagogue Anshe Chesed will be celebrating 104 years in Linden, New Jersey, along with its revitalization in the last decade. The Young Leadership Award will be awarded to Joshua and Eliana Weiss for their dedication to the rejuvenation of the community. Under Joshua’s 10 years as vice president and president the synagogue has seen 40 young families move in and has become home to more than 100 children.

The Distinguished Leadership Award will be presented to Cantor Shimon and Diane Vogel, who have given generously to their commitment to Anshe Chesed and the community at large. Since 1983, Cantor Vogel has served as chazan, bar and bat mitzvah tutor, and ba’al koreh. Diane Vogel has always served as a role model to all in the community.

Joanne Shapiro, Sisterhood president and volunteer extraordinaire, will be awarded the Legacy Award. Joanne serves on several committees and is always the first to volunteer to help the shul in any way she can.
