(Courtesy of Congregation Arzei Darom) In an effort to show their gratitude and appreciation for the healthcare workers on the front lines of COVID-19 at Holy Name Medical Center, Teaneck’s Congregation Arzei Darom raised funding to provide meals for hospital staff.

On April 22, the synagogue—which is located just blocks away from the hospital—reached out to members letting them know about the situation at Holy Name Medical Center, which is the epicenter of the pandemic in New Jersey. Congregants came together to raise $2,800 to provide kosher meals for the hospital staff who are working around the clock to care for those in the community who are ill with COVID-19.

“Living blocks away from Holy Name Medical Center, we saw firsthand how incredible their staff are and were motivated as a community to give back to them and support them in whatever way we could,” said Arzei Darom President Miles Levin. “As they are so busy treating patients, we wanted to make sure that they had proper meals to keep themselves nourished. We worked with local kosher restaurants Sababa Grill, Ma’adan and Yalla! to have food delivered to them.”
