Congregation Israel of Springfield Brings the Kiddush Cup Back

(Courtesy of CIS) After a two year hiatus without the trophy, Congregation Israel of Springfield (CIS) recaptured the coveted “Kiddush Cup” in the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy Synagogue Basketball League.

CIS defeated AABJ&D of West Orange 37-27 in a rather low scoring matchup, to bring home their third league title.

The CIS winning roster consisted of (l-r) Charlie Larkin, Sammy Rosenzweig, Noam Zeffren, Ben Hoffer, Eytan Konigsberg, Jeff Smulewitz, Noah Kaminer and Elie Bochner.

The men’s adult basketball league was started in 2016 by Livingston resident (and JKHA/RKYHS parent) Seth Leeds, and has had as many as 11 area synagogues participating. For information and to join next season (which begins in late November) contact Seth at [email protected].
