(Courtesy of CIS) On Tuesday, April 2, Congregation Israel of Springfield held its 44th Annual Dinner at Crystal Plaza in Livingston, honoring six distinguished community leaders.
The dinner paid tribute to Guest of Honor David Schiffman, recipient of the Rabbi Israel E. Turner Memorial Award, in recognition of his service to Congregation Israel. Mr. Schiffman serves as the synagogue vice president, chair of the Constitution Committee, and works diligently to improve the effectiveness of the daily operations of Congregation Israel. Additionally, the dinner also honored Ariana and Adam Reich (Young Leadership Award recipients), Judith Cohen Sandman (Aishet Chayil Award recipient), Avidan Bienenfeld (Edward Konigsberg Memorial Award recipient) and Genah Grossman (Joseph Tammam Memorial Youth Community Service Scholarship Award recipient).
Congregation Israel, under the dynamic leadership of Rabbi Chaim Marcus, provides a multitude of opportunities for community members to engage in Torah learning, community service and family-friendly activities. The community has seen exponential growth in recent years, and Congregation Israel continues to be a warm and inviting synagogue for members of all ages.
