Congregation Israel of Springfield Celebrates Record-Breaking 50th Annual Dinner

(Courtesy of CIS) Congregation Israel of Springfield (CIS) hosted its historic 50th annual dinner on March 25, marking a record-breaking evening in both attendance and participation. This milestone event brought together members, supporters and leaders to celebrate the CIS community.

The evening’s highest honor was bestowed upon Rav Chaim and Lea Marcus, whose dedication and leadership have been the foundation of CIS for over two decades. Through their unwavering commitment to Torah, chesed and community engagement, they have transformed CIS into a vibrant and welcoming spiritual home.Rav Chaim’s profound Torah scholarship, warmth and guidance have enriched the lives of countless members, while Lea’s humility and empathy has left an indelible mark. Together, they have fostered a culture of growth and unity within Springfield and the broader Jewish community.

In addition CIS proudly recognized the remarkable contributions of several distinguished honorees. Dr. Len Bielory was presented with the inaugural Keter Shem Tov Award, a distinction given to individuals whose actions exemplify selflessness, goodness and commitment to the community. As both a longtime member of CIS and a renowned physician, Bielory has demonstrated unwavering dedication to his shul and the medical community. His leadership, generosity and tireless efforts have helped strengthen countless initiatives in his community and professional field.

Sarah Lachs received the Aishet Chayil Award, an honor recognizing a woman who exemplifies strength, wisdom and dedication. Through her unwavering commitment to CIS and active involvement in numerous communal initiatives, Lachs has made a profound impact with her leadership and compassion.

Shmuel and Leora Babich were recognized with the Young Leadership Award, celebrating their devotion to the future of the CIS community. As active and engaged members, the Babich’s have worked to foster a sense of connection and enthusiasm among younger families and new members.

The Joseph Tammam Memorial Youth Community Service Scholarship Award was awarded to Racheli Marcus in recognition of her exemplary character, strong Jewish values and commitment to her community. As a young leader in her own right, Marcus has demonstrated a passion for Torah and community service, making her a deserving recipient of this meaningful honor.

The evening was filled with moving speeches, a heartfelt video tribute and a strong sense of unity and pride. Congregation Israel extended its deepest gratitude to all those who attended, participated in and supported this milestone event.
