(Courtesy of CIS) Congregation Israel of Springfield (CIS) welcomes Rabbi Chayim Gerson as assistant rabbi, and with Rebbetzin CM Gerson, they will both serve as the shul’s new youth directors.
The Gersons are both experienced educators with strong ties to the CIS community. Rabbi Gerson currently works at Bruriah in Elizabeth addition to directing the Shorashim program at Livingston’s Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School and CM is a much-beloved teacher and student activities director, also at Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School. Both have spent summers working at camp, with Rabbi Gerson serving as head of Chinuch and CM as a teen division head at Camp Mesorah this summer.
Rabbi and CM Gerson are committed to developing a thriving CIS youth department and look forward to building upon their existing relationships and establishing connections with children throughout the community. “We are excited to serve the community under the guidance of Rabbi Marcus and the shul’s outstanding lay leadership. We can’t wait to conitnue building and growing CIS to new heights.”
Congregation Israel of Springfield, under the dynamic leadership of Rabbi Chaim Marcus, provides a multitude of opportunities for community members to engage in Torah learning, community service and family-friendly activities.
