Congregation Keter Torah in Teaneck will welcome Scholar-in-Residence Major General (Res.) Meir Klifi-Amir, national director and CEO of Friends of Israel Defense Forces (FIDF). Klifi-Amir will speak about “Israeli Challenges in the New Environment” followed by a Q&A, on Saturday, January 14, at 8 p.m. There will be a meet and greet and dessert reception to follow the lecture.
Major General (Res.) Meir Klifi-Amir is the National Director and CEO of Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF). During his distinguished 33 years of IDF military service, General Klifi-Amir held several command positions in the IDF Paratroopers Brigade, and served as the Commander of the Givati Brigade.
From 2001 to 2007, he held a wide range of commanding roles including Head of Division 91 on the Israel-Lebanon border, Head of the Joint Doctrine and Training Division of the General Staff Command and Deputy Chief of the Ground Forces Command.
From 2007 to 2010, General Klifi-Amir served as the Military Secretary to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where he was the special security advisor and partner in national security decisions.
During the past four years, General Klifi-Amir worked as a security consultant, specializing in national security and strategic planning for governments and agencies worldwide. He founded his own security firm in 2012.
General Klifi-Amir holds a B.A. in Political Science from the Haifa University in Israel. He is a graduate of Israel’s National Security College. General Klifi-Amir is married to Brig. Gen. (Res.) Gila Klifi-Amir, and they have three children.
