(Courtesy of Zen &Go) An acupuncture treatment specially designed for fertility improves circulation throughout the body and reproductive organs.
Acupuncture is a component of traditional Chinese medicine in which hair-thin, sterile needles are strategically inserted into points around the body. Acupuncture is used to rebalance the flow of energy or “qi” in the body to alleviate pain and help restore balance. At our office we use acupuncture to effectively treat a variety of ailments including back pain, knee pain, neck and shoulder pain, autoimmune pain, fertility and female reproductive conditions, urinary conditions, digestive disturbances, psycho-emotional issues and more. Your first visit includes a full consultation. This appointment is about an hour. All treatments are personalized for each patient. The doctor will give you a personalized recommended treatment plan after your first appointment.
Underlying hormonal issues including thyroid issues can be addressed with acupuncture to improve the overall fertility process. Acupuncture will help regulate the body, lower cortisol levels, and reduce stress and anxiety. Fertility acupuncture can be used at any time during the fertility process to conceive, maintain a healthy pregnancy and promote an easy labor. Acupuncture will help thicken the uterine lining, improve ovary function, improve egg quality, regulate hormones, and boost immunity. IVF (in vitro fertilization) and IUI (intrauterine insemination Acupuncture) have been shown to improve the egg quality and regulate hormonal levels throughout the body including progesterone, estrogen, esterol, prolactin, thyroid, cortisol, adrenaline, and follicle stimulating hormones.
Acupuncture reduces stress and anxiety, which allows the pituitary glands, adrenals and thyroid to reset to normal levels improving ovulation. Patients can begin fertility acupuncture at any time during the fertility process and as early as three months before trying to conceive naturally or starting the IVF or IUI process. Acupuncture is done twice on the day of IVF and IUI, once before and then after the transfer. Patients are seen regularly. After conceiving, acupuncture treatments are done periodically until the second trimester. Acupuncture can also relieve pregnancy discomforts such as nausea, heartburn and back pain. At 39 weeks acupuncture can be used to safely promote labor induction and an easy delivery.
