I am writing to ask that you include climate news in the World Newsbriefs section. This is an issue that will very likely affect every single person in the coming years, including readers of The Jewish Link. Not only are we not doing nearly enough to address the underlying causes of the climate crisis, such as an immediate transition away from fossil fuels—we are also not considering issues of our own self-preservation in the face of the potential impacts of climate breakdown. The first step is for people to realize and come to terms with the fact that we are indeed living in an emergency, whether or not our politicians acknowledge it as such. It is the media’s responsibility, from local newspapers to major news corporations, to not ignore this fact.
