Crowd Gathers for Screening Of ‘Legend of Destruction’ Film

Dozens of members of the Highland Park/Edison Jewish community from different shuls gathered and paid movie theater prices to get in the right mood for Tisha B’Av. They made their way to Cong. Ohav Emeth in Highland Park on Sunday night, Aug. 11 to watch the film “Legend of Destruction.”

This Israeli film is based on historical accounts, Talmudic aggadot and the writings of Josephus Flavius; it tells a grim and very moving tale of the bitter social divisions that led to the destruction of the Second Beit Hamikdash in 70 CE. “Legend of Destruction,” by Gidi Dar (director of “Ushpizin”), and featuring voiceovers and oil paintings to tell the story, has been endorsed by RZA-World Mizrachi and has won four Israeli film awards.
